SENSEI PIERS COOKE – 24th March 2021
This Wednesday, I’m pleased to welcome Sensei Piers Cooke as guest sensei.
Piers is the current chair of the British Aikido Board and brother of Quentin Cooke, who came to teach us last month. He is also in charge of training at Aikido for Daily Life (ADL), the association we belong to. He says:
This is my 40th year practising Aikido, which I find extraordinary. My first 17 years were under the tutelage of Sensei Ken Williams. Then with Quentin we formed ADL and picked the cream of the crop to come and teach as and when.
My session has the following title “Aikido looking forward not backward”
There will be a new Ikkyo kata, of my own creation which I will show start to finish.
I look at weapon warm-ups you can do in the garden and maybe some discussion around the topic of judgement versus the most respectful interpretation.
